E.M.O.T.M. Clean and Presses

If you’re ever in a pinch and need a quick routine to hit, one of my favorite go-to’s has got to be the Clean and Press.

The movement hits pretty much everything in one shot.

Lots of different ways you can use it.

Power Clean

Squat Clean

Power Clean + Front Squat

Start-Stop Cleans

Then there’s a variety of ways you can press the weight…

Push Press

Strict Press

Jerk

Split Jerk

Thruster

Then there’s all of the different tools you can use…

Barbell

Kettlebells

Dumbbells

Sandbag

Shoot, I’ve even used a heavy stone with Clean and Presses before.

It’s a simple as taking a weight from the floor and getting it up over your head.

What’s not fun about that?

And besides all of the different types of tools you can use, there’s an endless amount of ways you can set up your reps and sets.

I typically like the ol’ “Every Minute on the Minute” set up which pushes the cardio a bit while also keeping you efficient with your time.

What I did the other day was 20 mins of Every Minute on the Minute of 5 Start-Stop Squat Clean to Jerks.

I choose to use a set of KB’s.

Started a bit lighter then built up to Double 70’s by the end.  

First 5 rounds were at 44’s

Second 5 rounds I hit 53’s

Third set of 5 rounds was at 62’s

Then I almost died on the final 5 rounds with 70’s

That minute was getting SHORT.

Simple.

NOT easy.

So, if you’re ever in a pinch and need a quick, go-to routine to hit, you’ve always got the Clean and Press :)
